The current approach to sentinel lenf node

This also increases the risk of patient morbidity and complications. Today, increasingly sentinel lymph node biopsy are applied to patients in considering neck metastases in orofarengeal tumors. The diagnosed lymph nodes are examined in cross-sectional method and depending on the outcome, comprehensive or selective neck dissection has been applied. Specialists are not sure about the role of sentinel lymph node biopsy in head and neck cancers completely. In this paper, evaluation of occult metastases in head and neck cancers, methods of diagnosis and the role of sentinel node biopsy in diagnosis are questioned.

Bu da hastanın morbidite ve komplikasyon riskini artırmaktadır. Günümüzde, orofarengeal tümörlerde boyun metastazı artık sentinel lenf nodu biyopsisi ile değerlendirilmektedir. Saptanan lenf nodları kesitsel yöntem ile incelenmekte, sonuca göre boyun disseksiyonun şekline karar verilmektedir. Uzmanlar sentinel lenf nodu biyopsisinin diğer baş boyun kanserlerinde sahip olması gereken rol hakkında tam olarak emin değildir. Bu yazıdan amaç baş boyun bölgesindeki kanserlerin gizli metastazlarının değerlendirilmesi, tanı yöntemleri ve sentinel lenf nodu biyopsisinin tanıdaki rolünü tartışmaktır.
