Our Experiences of Anesthesia in Hip Surgery

OBJECTIVE: Most of the patients who had hip surgery are elderly. In geriatric patients who have cardiac, endocrine, renal, cerebral, and respiratory disease have increased risk of perioperative mortality and morbidity. In this patients, the techniques of regional anesthesia like spinal or epidural anesthesia are more preferred than general anesthesia. Our study include experiences in 300 hip surgery events which are achieved in our hospital within 1 year.
METHODS: The study performed between August 2011- July 2012, 300 hip surgery events were operated in two different operating room retrospectively.
RESULTS: 155(%51.6) patients in spinal anesthesia, 86(%28.6) patients in spinal- epidural anesthesia and 59(%19.8) patients in general anesthesia were applied.
CONCLUSION: The choice of anesthetic technique, surgical requirements, the technique of the surgeon and anesthesiologist should be made taking into account the practical experience and skills.

AMAÇ: Kalça cerrahisi uygulanan hastaların büyük bir çoğunluğu ileri yaş grubundadır. Geriatrik hastalarda kardiyak, endokrin, renal, serebral ve respiratuvar hastalıkların varlığı perioperatif ve postoperatif morbidite ve mortalite artırmaktadır. Bu hastalarda, spinal ve epidural anestezi gibi bölgesel anestezi teknikleri genel anesteziye göre daha fazla tercih edilmektedir. Çalışmamız, 1 yıl içerisinde hastanemizde gerçekleştirilen 300 kalça cerrahisi olgusundaki anestezi deneyimlerimizi içermektedir.
YÖNTEMLER: Ağustos 2011-Temmuz 2012 tarihleri arasında, 2 ayrı ortopedi ameliyathanesinde gerçekleştirilen 300 kalça cerrahisi olgusu retrospektif olarak değerlendirildi.
BULGULAR: 155(%51.6) hastaya spinal anestezi, 86(%28.6)hastaya kombine spinal- epidural anestezi, 59(%19.8) hastaya genel anestezi uygulandı.
SONUÇ: Anestezi tekniğinin seçimi, cerrahi gereksinimi, cerrahın ve anestezistin o tekniği uygulamadaki deneyim ve becerisi de hesaba katılarak yapılmalıdır.
