Cancer Cases In Five Year Period In The Secondary Health Care Institution Of East Anatolia Region

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study was to investigate age, gender, localization of cancer cases, to determine the profil of this area and to compare with data of other region data.
METHODS: We investigated 17755 biopsy and cytology material based on pathology reports retrospectively in April 2007 - August 2012. We obtained data of age, gender, cancer localization, cancer type from pathology report.
RESULTS: There were a total of 230 (%38,7) cases with gastrointestinal system, 137 (%23,1) cases with skin, 93 (%15,6) cases with thyroid, 60 (%10,1) cases with urogenital system, 21 (%3,5) cases with breast, 21 (%3,5) cases with lymphoid, 12 (%2) cases with gynecological, 7 (%1,2) cases with lung, 12 (%2) cases with metastatic cancer. 339 cases were woman, 254 cases were man. Female/Male: 1,19. Mean age was 55,4 (17-86).
CONCLUSION: In this region, gastrointestinal system cancer are common. In cancer control program, it is important to prevent health care, to raise awareness and to generalize the early diagnosis and treatment.

AMAÇ: Çalışmanın amacı kanser tanısı almış olguların yaş, cinsiyet, lokalizasyon dağılımlarını incelemek, yöre profilini saptamak, diğer bölge verileri ile karşılaştırmaktır.
YÖNTEMLER: Nisan 2007 - Ağustos 2012 yılları arasında 17755 biyopsi ve sitoloji materyaline ait patoloji raporları retrospektif olarak incelendi ve hastaların yaşı, cinsiyeti, kanser lokalizasyonu, kanser tipine ait bilgiler elde edildi.
BULGULAR: Toplam kanser olgusunun 230’u (%38,7) gastrointestinal sistem, 137’ i (%23,1) deri, 93’ ü (%15,6) tiroid, 60’ı (%10,1) ürogenital sistem, 21’ i (%3,5) meme, 21’i (%3,5) lenfoid sistem, 12’ si (%2) jinekolojik sistem, 7’ si (%1,2) akciğer kaynaklı olup 12’si (%2) metastatik kanserdir. Olguların 339’u kadın, 254’ü erkektir. Kadın/Erkek: 1,19’dur. Yaş ortalaması 55.4 (17–86)’ tür.
SONUÇ: Yörede gastrointestinal sistem kanserleri sık görülmektedir. Koruyucu ve önleyici hizmetlerin sunulması, halkın bilinçlendirilmesi, erken tanı ve tedavi hizmetlerinin yaygınlaştırılması, kanser kontrol programı kapsamında önem arzetmektedir.
