Comparison of Libido, FSFI and the ARIZONA scores in women underwent laparoscopic or conventional abdominal hysterectomy

Aim: The aim of the present study was to compare female sexual function between women underwent conventional abdominal and laparoscopic hysterectomy.
Methods: Seventyseven women who scheduled to perform hysterectomy without oophorectomy for benign gynecologic conditions to either laparoscopic or open abdominal according to surgeon preference.Women with endometriozis and symptomatic prolapsusus were excluded. Female sexual function scores were obtained before and six months after the operation from each participants by the utilization of validated questionnaires.
Results: Pre and postoperative scores of three different quationnaires were found to be comparable in group underwent laparoscopic hysterectomy (P > 0.05). And also scores were found to be comparable in group underwent laparotomic hysterectomy (P > 0.05). Pre and postoperative values were compared between two groups and revealed similar result with regar to all three scores (P > 0.05).
Conclusions: Our data showed comparable pre and the postoperative scores for the two different hysterectomy techniques. Two groups were also found to have similar pre and postoperative score values.
