The rectal/vaginal opacification with water and the anti-peristaltic agent in MRI scanning of the intestinal endometriosis

The diagnosis of deep intestinal endometriosis is mandatory to plan the treatment and to follow up, however there is no consensus worldwide to use the rectal/vaginal opacification and anti-peristaltic agent for MRI scanning and it is defined as an option for the examination. The TVUS, the images of the previous MRI with standard protocol and the recent MRI in our institution with the rectal/vaginal opacification with water and the anti-peristaltic agent are presented in four cases for comparison respectively. The technique in our institution seems to be more effective than the routine pelvic MRI scans in the intestinal endometriosis.

Derin intestinal endometriozis tanısı tedavi ve takip için zorunludur, ancak MR görüntülemede rektal/vajinal opasifikasyon ve antiperistaltik ajan kullanımı açısından dünya genelinde bir uzlaşma mevcut değildir. TVUS ve MR görüntüleri (standart protokol ve rektal/vajinal opasifikasyon ve antiperistaltik ajan kullanarak elde edilen) karşılaştırma amacıyla sunulmuştur. Kullandığımız tekniğin standart MR tetkiklerine göre daha efektif olduğu izlenmektedir.
