Az görme re/habilitasyonunda son yaklaşımlar

Az görme re/habilitasyonu, doğumda beklenen yaşam ümidinin artması ve özellikle yaşa bağlı makula dejenerasyonunun görülme sıklığının yükselmesi ile günümüzde daha önemli bir hal almıştır. Az görme polikliniğine gelen bir hastaya rehabilitasyon ve tedavi seçeneklerini sunarken zeminde yatan hastalığın tanısı, uzak ve yakın görme keskinliği başta olmak üzere görsel işlevler, görme kaybının merkezi ya da periferik olması, yaşı, hastalığının progresif olup olmaması, eğitim seviyesi ve bizden beklentisi çok önemlidir. Az gören hastalar, doğru yaşlarda, uygun endikasyonlarla ve gerçekçi beklentilerle doğru merkezlere yönlendirilmeli ve rehabilitasyon süreci multidisipliner bir şekilde yapılmalıdır.

Current approaches to low vision re/habilitation

Nowadays, with the increase of hope of life at birt and especially the rise of frequency of seeing age related macular degeneration, low vision re/habilitation becomes more important. When we offer a choice to the patient that come to the low vision policlinic, the diagnosis of the underlying disease, visual functions especially distance and near visual acuity, visual loss is central or peripheral, age, disease is progressif or not, educational level and the expectation of patient from us are very important. Low vision patients must be oriented to the correct centrals in correct ages, with appropriate indications and with realistic expectations and the rehabilitation process must be done multidisciplinary.
