Two-step surgery for telecanthus-epicanthus and ptosis in patients with blepharophimosis

Material-Methods: Clinical features and surgical results of 10 patients with blepharophimosis were analyzed retrospectively. Double Z-plasty and nasal wiring were performed for the correction of telecanthus-epicanthus. Frontalis suspension surgery with otogen fascia lata was performed for the correction of ptosis.
Results: The mean follow-up time of patients was 19.6 months (6-84 months). The mean age was 10.2±7.5 years (3-28 years). Epicanthus and telecanthus were corrected in all patients. Ptosis was corrected with frontalis suspension surgery in 7 patients. All patients had symmetry in canthal region and good canthal angle postoperatively. All patients that undergone ptosis surgery had eyelid symmetry.
Conclusion: In patients with hereditary blepharaphimosis syndrome, aesthetic and functional aspects of a successful outcome can be achieved with telecanthus-epicanthus and ptosis correction in two-stage surgery.
Blefarofimozisli hastalarda telekantüs-epikantus ve ptozis tedavisinde iki aşamalı cerrahi

Gereç-Yöntem: Blefarofimozisli 10 hastanın klinik özellikleri ve cerrahi sonuçları geriye dönük olarak değerlendirildi. Telekantüs-epikantus onarımında çift Z-plasti ve nazal telleme, ptozis düzeltilmesinde ise otojen fasia lata ile frontal askı cerrahisi uygulandı.
Sonuçlar: Hastaların ortalama takip süresi 19.6 ay (6-84 ay) idi. Ortalama yaş ise 10.2±7.5 yıl (3-28 yıl) olarak saptandı. Tüm hastalarda epikantus/telekantus onarımı yapıldı. Yedi hastada ptozisin düzeltilmesi amacı ile frontal askı cerrahisi uygulandı. Hastaların hepsinde cerrahi sonrasında her iki kantal bölgede simetri sağlanarak kantal açı oluşturuldu. Ptozis cerrahisi uygulanan tüm hastalarda kapak simetrisi sağlandı.
Tartışma: Kalıtsal blefarofimozis sendromlu hastalarda, iki aşamalı olarak, telekantus-epikantus ve frontal askı cerrahilerinin yapılmasıyla estetik ve işlevsel açıdan başarılı sonuçlar elde edilebilir.
