Iodate Induced Retinopathy: Case Report

Potassium iodide is used as an iodine supplement of salt within the scope of the national program. An overdose of iodine has a toxic effect on the retinal pigment epithelium and photoreceptors. The case is here presented of a patient who developed retinopathy following consumption of an excessive dose of iodine.

Potasyum iyodür, ulusal program kapsamında tuzlarda iyot takviyesi olarak kullanılır. Aşırı dozda iyot, retinal pigment epiteli ve fotoreseptörler üzerinde toksik bir etkiye sahiptir. Bu yazıda, aşırı dozda iyot alımını takiben retinopati gelişen bir olgu sunulmaktadır.
