Bölümü, Trabzon.Bu çalışmada deprem konumu belirleme probleminin çözümünde Determination of locations of local and regional earthquakes by grid search methodsHüseyin GökalpKaradeniz Technical University, Department of Geophysics, TrabzonIn this study, “Grid Search method” was investigated for both its efficiency and capability in solving earthquake location problems even if various situations. For this reason, three kinds of seismic networks that poses different station geometries were chosen to make an analysis for the effect of the network shape in solving the location problem by this method. Three cases in which earthquakes occurred in, near, and far from the networks were considered in this study. Furthermore, three different situations that wrongly determined origin time of an event, choosing faulty values of velocity and using the phase data containing reading errors and noise, were also examined in solution of location problem by this method. 54 chosen real earthquakes that occurred near the coast of the eastern Black Sea that had both Pg and Sg phase readings and were previously located by the Seismological Centers were relocated by using Grid search method and were then compared with the ones previously obtained by the seismological center. It has been found that the most earthquake hypocenters determined by this method were close to the locations determined by the classic methods.
