Malignant otitis externa (MOE) is an infrequent but severe invasive infection of external auditory canal generally caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which mostly affects elderly diabetic patients. Progression of the disease leads to osteomyelitis of skull base and severe intracranial complications may be seen which can be potentially fatal. We describe PET/CT findings of a patient referred to PET/CT department for evaluation of skull base osteomyelitis.
